How do I get started?

When you signed up (or renewed) with Trace, you would have received a welcome email containing instructions along with a link to our Getting Started Guide. That guide can also be found here.

In summary:

  • Jump into your data dashboard to begin the measurement process
  • Click 'Start Measurement', and you'll be taken to our step-by-step data collection process. There are 6 steps to complete (including submission).
  • 1: Connect your accounting platform to provide expense data (if you use Xero, Quickbooks or MYOB). If you use another platform, you can upload a CSV extract of your expenses in Step 4.
  • 2: Select your measurement period (this is the 12 month period for which you'll be measuring your carbon footprint.
  • 3: Send out your employee survey so that we can collect data on commuting and WFH. The survey is available on our Pro Software plan and above.
  • 4: Map your expense data to our emissions categories. This will cover emissions form your purchased goods and services, and business travel (if not using activity data).
  • 5: Add your activity data. This will cover fuel, utilities, business travel, waste, freight and more
  • 6: You're done! Submit!
  • We'll be notified of your submission. Someone from the team will give things a quick review and come back with next steps. Review time varies with submission volume.

We recommend first jumping into the portal and exploring, as it's designed to be quite intuitive. Our AI Assistant, Tracey, will be in there with you to answer any questions you have as you go.
