What carbon data will my customers ask for?
As sustainability reporting regulations like the ISSB, ASSB, and UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS) roll out, your customers may start asking you for carbon data to support their own disclosures. Here’s what you need to know.
Why are your customers asking?
New regulations are requiring large companies to report on their full value chain emissions—this includes the emissions from their suppliers (like you). These are called Scope 3 emissions, and they often make up the majority of a company’s carbon footprint.
What data might they ask for?
Most commonly, your customers will ask for:
-
Your own carbon footprint
-
A summary of your emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3.
-
A breakdown of your emissions per GHG category.
-
-
Carbon reduction targets
-
Have you set a Net Zero target or joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)?
-
Sharing your sustainability commitments helps them meet their own goals.
-
How does Trace help?
You can access all your carbon footprint data from your measure dashboard. You can also set and commit to carbon reduction targets in the Reduce section.
We can also help you stand out from competitors, with our Net Zero Certifications or Carbon Management Report (CMR). The CMR is a sustainability report that Trace provides to help you tell your sustainability story to customers and stakeholders.
