Will my product be certified by Trace?

Trace measures your organisational footprint. Find out how this differs from a Product Lifecycle Assessment.

Trace's carbon measurements constitute an 'Organisational' emissions boundary, where possible we aim to cover all emissions associated with your core business activities and product/service including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

It is important to note, however, that this does not constitute a 'Product Certification', which typically requires a comprehensive analysis of the lifecycle GHG emissions of a product manufactured by the reporting company, using high-quality primary data. This would typically include emissions from things such as downstream processing, use, and disposal of your sold product, which would not typically be covered by Trace depending on data availability.

For an accurate measurement of the emissions associated with your product, we recommend seeking out a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to be conducted by a qualified professional. An LCA is a very comprehensive measurement which can be used to compare product sustainability performance, and considers each process in a product’s
lifecycle, enabling precise changes to be made.
